3, 5 or 7 points: which lock to choose?
The right model depends on the door, how exposed it is and the level required by your insurer. We advise you on site or from a photo.
- 3-point lock locks at the top, bottom and side: the recommended minimum for a front door.
- 5-point lock the locking is spread over the height of the door, which resists prising better.
- 7-point lock for a tall or very exposed door; the Présence 3 and the Sérénis 710 are A2P*** certified.
- Surface-mounted or mortice surface-mounted, the lock is fixed to the inside face of the door; mortice, it is set into its thickness.
- Smart lock the Tedee PRO motorises your cylinder and opens the door from a smartphone.
A2P lock: what the certification guarantees
A2P certification is awarded by CNPP after break-in tests. It covers the lock and, separately, the cylinder.
One, two or three stars depending on how long the lock resists a break-in attempt: 5, 10 or 15 minutes. We check the current certificate of every model we fit, and show the exact level on each sheet.
- A2P* 5 minutes of resistance: the usual level for a flat door.
- A2P*** 15 minutes of resistance: the highest level, for an exposed door.
- Cylinder a certified cylinder and a card of ownership protect against key copying.
How a lock is fitted
From the first message to the handover of the keys, you know at each step what happens and what it costs.

How much does a fitted high-security lock cost in Paris?
The price depends on the number of points, the certification and the brand: each model shows its price incl. VAT in the comparison above. We give you the exact price before ordering the lock.
What does A2P certification mean for a lock?
A2P is the certification awarded by CNPP to security locks after break-in tests. The stars show the resistance time: 5 minutes for one star, 10 minutes for two, 15 minutes for three. Your insurer may require a minimum level.
How many locking points should I choose?
A 3-point lock locks the door at the top, bottom and side: it is the recommended minimum for a front door. A 5- or 7-point lock spreads the load over the whole height and resists prising better, especially on a tall or exposed door.
Surface-mounted or mortice lock: what is the difference?
A surface-mounted lock is fixed to the inside face of the door: it fits most flat doors and can lock at several points. A mortice lock is set into the thickness of the door: more discreet, it needs a fairly thick door.
Can the keys of a high-security lock be copied?
Yes, but only on presentation of the card of ownership: patented keys are reproduced by the manufacturer or an approved dealer. You can also order your keys by number from us.
How is a lock fitted?
We first check your door, then give you the price of the lock fitted. Fitting is done by appointment, in a single visit; we hand over the keys and the card of ownership. Our fitting is guaranteed for 5 years.
