An old neighbourhood made up largely of houses, the Centre stretches from Nanterre-Ville station (RER A) to the town hall. Between the Grande Arche and the parc André-Malraux, Parc Nord brings together the prefecture of the Hauts-de-Seine, Nanterre-Préfecture station (RER A), the offices of the Terrasses, Paris La Défense Arena and the Paris Opera ballet school. People live here in large housing estates, Vallona, Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité or Central Parc, most of them co-owned. Tell us the name of the residence, the building and the floor: in these estates, finding the right entrance saves the locksmith time.

The Université neighbourhood lives to the rhythm of the 27-hectare campus of Paris-Nanterre University, which has more than 30,000 students, and of Nanterre-Université station. Near the station, the Cœur de quartier, opened in 2022 between the university and the renovated cité des Provinces-Françaises, was awarded the Écoquartier label along with it in 2023.
