Offices: switching to a keypad lock
In an office, keys get lost, get lent out and leave with members of staff. An electronic keypad lock is managed differently: you change the code instead of changing the cylinder.
The Picard Parade II opens with a code, which you change when the team changes. For doors that need to keep a key, we fit protected-key cylinders: without the card of ownership, no one can have a copy made. The two solutions are often combined: the code for the office entrance, the protected key for the archives or the management offices.
Before you choose
- How many people come in? beyond a handful of keys, a code is simpler to manage.
- Who holds the keys today? count them before the change: the list then serves as your reference.
- Is the door reinforced? the lock is chosen according to its thickness and its current fittings.

When offices change their locks
A lock change is rarely planned far in advance: it follows someone leaving, a lost key, a move. Here are the situations we come across most often in the offices and practices of the 8th, from rue La Boétie to the Saint-Lazare area.
- A member of staff leaves with their keysA new cylinder, or a new code if the lock has one.
- A key to the practice has gone missingA new protected-key cylinder: the old keys no longer work.
- Moving into new premisesEvery lock changed before the teams arrive.
- Attempted break-inWe secure the premises, then fit an A2P-certified lock.
- Archive or management office doorA protected key that only the cardholder can have copied.
- Key that sticks in the lockCylinder worn by people coming and going: replaced on the spot.
Office locks in the 8th: your questions
Describe your doors and the number of people who use them, and we’ll suggest the right lock.
Do I need the landlord’s consent to change the lock?
For a simple cylinder change, rarely: the door is not altered. For a keypad lock or a multipoint lock that requires drilling, check your commercial lease or ask for the landlord’s consent. We give you the technical data sheet for the model chosen.
What difference does a protected key make?
A protected key can only be copied on presentation of a card of ownership, by an authorised dealer. In a business, this means you know exactly how many keys exist and who holds them.
Can you come at the weekend so as not to disrupt business?
Yes, we work 7 days a week, and Saturdays and Sundays are charged at the daytime rate. The change is made while the offices are empty, and the new keys or the code are handed to you on site.
How much does it cost to change an office cylinder?
A high-security Euro profile cylinder costs at least €90 incl. VAT; a branded protected-key cylinder costs more, depending on the brand and the number of keys. The price is given to you before we come out, based on a photo of the lock.
