Protected-key cylinders: who can copy your keys?
With an ordinary cylinder, any key-cutting shop can make a copy. With a protected-key cylinder, copies can only be made by an authorised locksmith, on presentation of the card of ownership supplied with the cylinder.
It is the right solution when keys have to be entrusted to others: you know how many exist, and nobody can add more without your card. Keep it with your documents, never with your keys. We fit cylinders of this type on Picard, Fichet, Bricard and Vachette locks, and you can then order your copies online.

Do you need to change the whole lock when a housekeeper leaves?
No, in most cases the cylinder is enough: it is the part that recognises the key. The lock and its locking points stay in place, the job is quick and the price lower.
How many keys do we get with a new cylinder?
Usually three to five, depending on the model. If you want more, say so when ordering: for a protected-key cylinder, extra keys are ordered with the card of ownership.
Can we have a single key for the main entrance and the service staircase?
Yes, if both locks take the same type of cylinder: we order two cylinders that open with the same key. Fewer keys in circulation also means less risk.
Can I come to your office to have a key copied?
No: our office is not open to the public. Copies of security keys are ordered on our website, with the card of ownership; for a cylinder change, the locksmith comes to you.
