Metal shutter repair Paris 16

No power, silent motor: the emergency manual override

Most motorised shutters can be operated by hand using an emergency device, either a crank winch or a motor release. It still has to work, though, and you need to know how to use it without damaging the shutter.

On site, we first check the power supply and the controls: a circuit breaker, a key switch or a remote control is sometimes all it takes to block everything. If the motor is at fault, we open the shutter using the emergency manual override, then repair or replace the motor. You receive the price in writing before any work begins.

While you wait for the locksmith

  • Don’t force the shutter by lifting it by hand: the slats and the shaft would suffer.
  • Check the fuse box: a tripped circuit breaker explains many breakdowns.
  • Look for the crank handle: it is often kept near the shutter box, inside.

Shops in the 16th: where we carry out repairs

The arrondissement’s shops are clustered along a few streets; we work in every one of them, by day and by night.

Rue de Passy and rue de l’Annonciation

Fashion boutiques, delis and cafés packed into a few hundred metres, a stone’s throw from the Passy covered market: a broken-down shutter here often blocks an entire shopfront.

Motorised shutter broken down: your questions

The motor model is often shown on a label near the shutter box: a photo helps us bring the right part.

Can the shutter get stuck during a power cut?

Yes, a motorised shutter won’t move without power. If it has an emergency manual override, we open or close it by hand; if not, we can fit one for next time.

The remote control has stopped responding: is it the motor?

Not necessarily: a flat battery, a receiver out of adjustment or a faulty switch cause the same symptoms. We test the controls before touching the motor.

Can an emergency winch be added to an existing shutter?

On many models, yes: the winch is mounted on the shaft, with a crank handle kept inside the premises. We check compatibility on site and give you a quote.

Do you come out at night to close up premises?

Yes, 24/7: premises that can’t be closed shouldn’t stay open until morning. We give you the price of the call-out on the phone, before we set off.
