In the Haussmann-era buildings of the 8th, an apartment often has two doors: the front door on the main staircase, and the service door on the back stairs. We install A2P-certified security doors on either one, after a free measuring visit.
On the service stairs side, the door is often thinner and less well secured than the main entrance, even though it opens onto a little-used staircase. A BP1- or BP2-certified security door restores the same level of protection there, without touching the grand front entrance.
These doors often have unusual dimensions: narrower, sometimes lower, with a tired frame. We take the measurements on site and have the door made to the right size. The choice of model takes account of how the door is used: opened every day for deliveries, or almost never.

From one neighbourhood to the next, the service staircase plays a different role: here is what we see when we take measurements.
Mansions split into apartments and large bourgeois apartments: the service door often opens onto a kitchen or a pantry. We choose a security door whose inside face matches the room.
Second Empire buildings, often with offices on the first few floors: the service stairs are still used for deliveries and maintenance. A security door with a multipoint lock copes well with daily use there.
Around avenue Hoche and rue Daru, dual-aspect apartments have kept both their staircases. On the service side, the original frame has often shifted: the measuring visit checks that it can take the new door.
Above the shops, the upper floors mix professional practices and homes. When an office occupies the apartment, the service door is sometimes the staff entrance: we secure it without getting in the way of that use.

Yes, in fact it is one of the requests we receive most often in the 8th. The door is made to the dimensions of the opening, which is often narrower than the main entrance. Just ask the building manager (syndic) whether the building rules govern how it looks from the stairs.
Not necessarily. What matters is that both entrances offer comparable protection: a reinforced front door with a flimsy service door leaves a weak point. The finishes, on the other hand, can be different.
An A2P BP1-certified door, such as the Picard Diamant 10 or the Fichet Foxeo S, is suitable in most cases; BP2 offers longer resistance. A Diamant 10 costs from €3,650 incl. VAT. We discuss it with you at the measuring visit.
Replacing the door set affects the surround: small plaster and paint touch-ups are sometimes needed around the frame. We point this out on the quote, to avoid any surprises.
