Security door and door reinforcement in Paris 13

In residential buildings put up since the 1970s, from the Olympiades to Paris Rive Gauche, the original front door is often a lightweight door with a three-point lock. We replace it with an A2P-certified security door that complies with the building’s rules; the measuring visit and the quote are free.

Residential buildings in the 13th: what we find there

Each generation of buildings has left its own front door. Here are the ones we come across in the arrondissement, and what we suggest for each.

The 1970s towers

Lightweight front doors, metal frames, fire regulations that are often strict in high-rise buildings: the Picard Diamant EI30, both a security door and fire-rated, meets both requirements.

  • Rue de Tolbiac
  • Avenue d’Ivry
  • Rue du Javelot
  • Rue Nationale

Place d’Italie and avenue d’Italie

Large housing estates from the 1960s to the 1980s around the Italie 2 shopping centre: standard-sized doors, where an off-the-shelf BP1 security door can usually be fitted without major work.

  • Avenue d’Italie
  • Place d’Italie
  • Rue Bobillot
  • Rue du Docteur-Magnan

Paris Rive Gauche

Recently completed buildings, front doors that meet the regulations but often offer little resistance to break-ins: a Fichet Foxeo S or a Picard Diamant 10 raises the level considerably, with a finish matched to the common areas.

  • Avenue de France
  • Rue Neuve-Tolbiac
  • Boulevard du Général-Jean-Simon
  • Rue Primo-Levi

Boulevard Masséna and Porte de Choisy

Social housing and co-owned buildings along the boulevards des Maréchaux: we check the building’s rules with you, and the consent of the landlord or the building manager (syndic), before placing any order.

  • Avenue de Choisy
  • Avenue de la Porte-de-Choisy
  • Rue Régnault

Replacing the original front door

The original door of a recent residential building is designed with fire and noise in mind, rarely break-ins. Replacing it with a certified security door changes the level of protection without changing the look of the common areas, if you choose a similar finish.

Before choosing, ask the building manager for the building’s fire requirements: in a tower block, a fire door may be compulsory. We then take the measurements and suggest the models that suit, with their prices.

Before ordering

  • The co-ownership rules: they may require a set colour on the landing side.
  • Fire regulations: a fire door in some towers.
  • The opening direction: it can be kept, or reversed if the entrance allows.

Front doors in residential buildings: your questions

Unsure about your building’s rules? The building manager (syndic) can give you them; we help you make sense of them.

Can a fire door be replaced with a security door?

Yes, provided the new door keeps the required rating: the Picard Diamant EI30 is both fire-rated and A2P BP1 certified. The building manager can tell you the rating required in your building.

Does the door have to keep the same colour on the landing side?

Often, yes: many co-ownership rules require a uniform look in the common areas. On the flat side, the finish is up to you.

How much does a security door for a residential building cost?

For a residential building, the Picard Diamant 10 (A2P BP1) is offered at €3,650 incl. VAT; the fire-rated version and the other models are listed in the table above. The final price is set after the measuring visit, which is free.

Are you left without a door during the replacement?

Generally not: the old door is taken out and the new one fitted in the same visit, adjustments included. You lock up your home that same evening with your new keys.
