Reinforcement or BP1 door: two budgets, two results

Reinforcement strengthens the door you already have; an A2P BP1-certified security door replaces the door and its frame. In a studio, the first remains the budget option, the second the one that resists best.

It all depends on the frame: if it is sound and firmly fixed in the wall, reinforcement does the job; if it is split or warped, a complete door is the only option. We check this when we take the measurements, then give you a quote for each option, including the price and installation lead time.

For a studio or a maid’s room

  • Door in good condition: reinforcement, fitted on site without changing the door.
  • Weak frame: a complete BP1 door, supplied with its own frame.
  • Cellar or bike store: a made-to-measure security cellar door, BP1 as an option.

Security door on a small budget: your questions

Send us a photo of the door, from the front and from the side: we’ll tell you straight away whether reinforcement is possible.

Is door reinforcement enough for a studio?

In most studios, yes, provided the door and its frame are sound: the steel sheet, anti-jemmy angle bars and multipoint lock make an ordinary door much stronger. If the frame is damaged, a complete security door is still the better choice.

How much does door reinforcement cost in the 5th?

From €2,690 incl. VAT, depending on the door and the lock chosen. A BP1-certified security door, such as the Picard Diamant 10, starts at €3,650 incl. VAT. Both quotes are free.

As a tenant, do I need the landlord’s consent?

Yes: reinforcing or replacing the door alters the property. Ask for their written consent before ordering; the detailed quote often helps them decide.

Can the cellar have a security door too?

Yes: the L’ÉCO security cellar door, by Valente Securystar, replaces the wooden or wire-mesh doors found in basements. It protects bikes, archives and provisions, for much less than a flat entrance door.
