Security door and door reinforcement in Paris 11

A ground floor on a courtyard, a workshop turned loft, a flat at the far end of a passage: in the 11th, many doors open onto spaces hidden from view. We fit A2P-certified security doors there, standard or made to measure, after a free visit to take measurements.

Courtyards, passages and workshops of the 11th

Doors that do not open onto an ordinary landing need particular attention. Here is where we come across them.

Passages around the Bastille

Passage Thiéré, cour Damoye, rue de Lappe: ground-level homes open straight onto the cobbled courtyard. An A2P BP2-certified door gives them the resistance you expect from an exposed door.

  • Passage Thiéré
  • Rue de Lappe
  • Rue de la Roquette

Courtyards of the faubourg Saint-Antoine

The former cabinetmakers’ workshops have wide openings, sometimes glazed: we have a security door made to the exact dimensions, with the co-owners’ agreement when the look of the courtyard façade changes.

  • Cour de l’Étoile-d’Or
  • Passage de la Main-d’Or
  • Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine
  • Rue de Charonne

Popincourt and Saint-Ambroise

Period apartment buildings with a caretaker’s lodge and studio flats on the ground floor, facing the street or the courtyard: reinforcement of the existing door, or a BP1 security door when budget matters.

  • Rue Popincourt
  • Rue du Chemin-Vert
  • Rue Saint-Maur
  • Boulevard Voltaire

Residential buildings around Nation

In the more recent buildings, the entrance hall is secured by a door code, but ground-floor flats remain exposed. An A2P-certified door makes a worthwhile replacement for the original front door.

  • Rue de Montreuil
  • Boulevard de Charonne
  • Rue Chanzy

Ground floor on a courtyard: what level of protection?

A door on a courtyard can be attacked with no witnesses, away from the comings and goings of a staircase. There, we recommend at least A2P BP2 certification, with protection on the hinge side against the door being lifted off.

The Picard Diamant 20 and the Fichet Spheris HiS, both A2P BP2, suit most doors of standard dimensions. For a workshop opening, the Rmetic by Tordjman Métal is made to measure. If your door is in good condition, door reinforcement remains a less expensive option.

What we check on site

  • The courtyard façade: the co-owners may have rules on how it looks.
  • The windows next to it: a very strong door loses its point if the window beside it is still weak.
  • The threshold: a threshold bar stops a tool being slipped under the door.

Security doors on a courtyard: your questions

Send a photo of the door from the courtyard side and from the inside: the quote will be more accurate.

Can a security door replace a glazed workshop door?

Yes, if the co-owners agree to the change to the courtyard façade. The door is then made to the dimensions of the opening; we show you the finishes available on the courtyard side.

BP1, BP2 or BP3 for a ground floor?

The number reflects how the door performed in certification tests: the higher it is, the longer the door holds out against a break-in attempt. For a door on a courtyard, we recommend at least BP2; BP1 is fine for a busy landing on an upper floor.

What is the starting price for a security door in the 11th?

€3,650 incl. VAT for a Picard Diamant 10, BP1-certified. The BP2 models we recommend for a ground floor start at the prices in the table above; the exact price follows a free measuring visit.

Does fitting damage the entrance?

Removing the old door can mark the plaster around the frame: allow for a little paint touch-up. Let us know about any fragile wall before fitting.
