Security door and door reinforcement in Paris 3

In the Marais, a flat’s front door is part of the building’s heritage: mouldings, original paint, old ironmongery. We reinforce these doors without changing how they look, or fit security doors that reproduce their design. Measurements taken at your home, free quote.

Conservation area: keeping the look on the landing side

The Marais is covered by a conservation plan that protects its façades and, in some buildings, its remarkable interiors. On the landing side, the co-owners often insist that all the doors match.

Before any installation, we check with you what the building’s co-ownership rules say and, for a listed building, whether permission is needed. Reinforcement leaves the original door in place; a new door can be given a moulded panel and the same colour as the other doors on the staircase.

Three ways to do it

  • Reinforcement: the original door stays, strengthened from the inside.
  • Steel-sleeve reinforcement: for a double door, both leaves are wrapped in steel.
  • A new moulded door: its panel reproduces the design of the old one.

Doors in the 3rd, street by street

From the Carreau du Temple to the Archives nationales, the age of the buildings changes, and with it the type of door.

Rue de Thorigny and rue du Parc-Royal

Grand 17th-century mansions divided into flats: tall doors, often double-leaf, which steel-sleeve reinforcement protects without replacing them.

  • Rue de Thorigny
  • Rue du Parc-Royal
  • Rue Payenne
  • Rue de Sévigné

Rue Vieille-du-Temple and rue des Archives

Old buildings with shops on the ground floor: moulded wooden front doors, to be reinforced or replaced by a door of the same design.

  • Rue Vieille-du-Temple
  • Rue des Archives
  • Rue des Quatre-Fils
  • Rue Pastourelle

Rue de Bretagne and rue Charlot

19th-century buildings with simpler entrances: a standard BP1 security door, faced with a moulded panel, fits in well.

  • Rue de Bretagne
  • Rue Charlot
  • Rue de Saintonge
  • Rue de Normandie

Rue du Temple and Arts-et-Métiers

Workshops, small flats, buildings put up to be let: depending on the state of the door, reinforcement or a new door, and in both cases an A2P-certified multipoint lock.

  • Rue du Temple
  • Rue des Gravilliers
  • Rue Réaumur
  • Rue Volta

Security doors in the Marais: your questions

A photo of your door and of your neighbour’s across the landing helps us suggest a model that suits the staircase.

Do you need permission to fit a security door in the Marais?

For a flat’s front door, it is mainly the building’s co-ownership rules that count: they can impose the colour or design on the landing side. In buildings with protected interiors, other rules may also apply, and the building manager (syndic) can tell you more. We give you the model’s technical data sheet to make approval easier.

Does reinforcement damage the original door?

No: it is fixed on the inside, to the door and the frame, without touching the mouldings on the landing side. The door becomes heavier, which is why its hinges are reinforced.

How much does it cost to reinforce an old door?

Reinforcement starts at €2,690 incl. VAT, multipoint lock included. For a double door, steel-sleeve reinforcement is priced on quotation, after a free measuring visit.

Can a new security door have mouldings?

Yes: the manufacturer offers moulded panels, and a made-to-measure panel can reproduce the design of an existing door. On the flat side, you can choose a different finish if you wish.
