Sleeve-type door reinforcement in Paris: a stronger door that keeps its look

Sleeve-type reinforcement (blindage fourreau) strengthens your front door without replacing it: the wooden door is enclosed in a steel shell, the “sleeve”, and mounted on a steel frame sealed into the wall. On the landing side, it keeps the look your building requires. This is how the reinforcement we install in Paris, Le blindage parisien, is built, certified A2P BP1 or BP3.

What is sleeve-type door reinforcement?

A basic reinforcement is often just a steel sheet screwed onto the inside of the door: the wooden frame and the door edges remain the weak points. Sleeve-type reinforcement treats the door as a whole: steel wraps around it, a steel frame replaces the wooden one, and a multipoint lock secures it on several sides.

Your wooden door stays inside the reinforcement: it keeps its thickness, and the steel does the rest.

What our sleeve-type reinforcement includes

  • A steel frame sealed into the wall, replacing the wooden frame, the weak point of old doors.
  • A steel sheet that wraps the door: 2 mm (20/10) for BP1, 2.5 mm (25/10) for BP3, stiffened with omega profiles and filled with rock wool.
  • Four 140 mm ball-bearing hinges, welded to the door and to the frame.
  • Anti-crowbar angle irons on the door and on the frame.
  • A welded threshold and a frame seal, against draughts and noise.
  • An A2P-certified multipoint lock, with a cylinder guard and sealed keys.

The advantages of sleeve-type reinforcement in Paris

The landing side keeps its look

On the landing side, the door is finished in a matching RAL colour or a wood-effect finish, so it keeps the look of the other doors in the building. Your building’s approval is therefore usually not needed; if the co-ownership rules govern the look of front doors, check them before ordering.

A2P BP1 or BP3 certification

A2P certification, issued by the CNPP, measures resistance to break-ins: 5 minutes for a BP1 reinforcement, 15 minutes for a BP3 reinforcement. BP3 is the right choice when your insurer requires it, for a ground-floor flat or a home that is often empty.

Installed in one day

We remove the old lock, seal the frame, fit the reinforcement and adjust the lock: by the evening, the door locks.

Better insulation

The frame seal, the threshold and the rock wool reduce draughts and noise from the landing. For the best sound insulation, a complete security door still performs better.

Sleeve-type reinforcement, Bloc parisien or security door?

If your door is in good condition and your building requires it to keep its look, sleeve-type reinforcement is the simplest solution. If you would rather have a new door with the look of period doors, the Bloc parisien combines our steel structure with a wooden face made to your measurements. For the best sound insulation or a fire-rated door, choose a complete security door such as the Picard Diamant 30 or the Picard Diamant EI30.

Our guide Security door or door reinforcement: which should you choose in Paris? compares the three solutions in detail.

Can your door take sleeve-type reinforcement?

Most wooden front doors that open inwards can be reinforced. As standard, the reinforcement fits doors up to 95 cm wide and 2.50 m high; beyond that, or for a double door, it is made to measure and priced on quotation after we measure.

The easiest way: send us a photo of your door, from both sides. We often reply within 2 hours, and the quote is free. Request your reinforcement quote or see all our security doors in Paris.
