Security door: from one street of the 20th to the next

The buildings in the arrondissement don’t all have the same doors, or the same fitting constraints.

Ménilmontant and Belleville

Old buildings without a lift: a security door is carried up by hand, by the stairs. When the staircase is too narrow, reinforcing the existing door becomes the simplest solution.

  • Rue de Ménilmontant
  • Rue Sorbier
  • Rue des Cascades
  • Rue de la Mare

Gambetta and Pyrénées

Haussmann-era buildings, large front doors: these entrances are better suited to a BP2 door, the Picard Diamant 20 for example.

  • Avenue Gambetta
  • Rue des Pyrénées
  • Rue Belgrand
  • Place Gambetta

Charonne and Saint-Blaise

Small houses, workshops, small working-class buildings: non-standard openings, which call for a made-to-measure door or a tailored reinforcement.

  • Rue Saint-Blaise
  • Rue des Vignoles
  • Rue de Bagnolet
  • Rue des Maraîchers

Towards the Paris city gates

Residential blocks from the 1960s to the 1990s near Porte des Lilas, Porte de Bagnolet and Porte de Montreuil: the original front door is replaced with a certified door, without touching the stairwell.

  • Boulevard Mortier
  • Rue Saint-Fargeau
  • Rue Pelleport
  • Boulevard Davout

What your insurer may require

Many home insurance policies make theft cover conditional on ‘security measures’: a multipoint lock, a security door, sometimes A2P certification. If these measures are missing on the day of a burglary, the payout may be reduced.

Reread the clause in your policy, or ask your insurer for it: it states the level required. We then fit the matching door or reinforcement, and give you the invoice and the model’s certification documents. Keep them with your policy.

Documents to keep

  • The invoice: it states the model and the date of fitting.
  • The certification: A2P BP1, BP2 or BP3 for the door, star-rated A2P for the lock.
  • Your policy: the clause that sets out the security measures.

Security door and insurance: your questions

Send us the clause from your policy with a photo of the door: we will tell you which model meets it.

Is my three-point lock enough for my insurer?

It depends on the clause in your policy: some only ask for a multipoint lock, others for an A2P-certified door or lock. Read it before deciding, or send it to us.

After a burglary, does the whole door need replacing?

Not always: if the door and frame held, a reinforcement or a new lock is enough. If the door is split or the frame torn out, a new security door is safer. We assess it on site, with you.

What budget should I allow for a certified security door?

The entry-level model, Picard’s Diamant 10 (BP1), costs €3,650 incl. VAT; BP2 and BP3 models cost more. The free quote gives the exact price based on the dimensions and finish.

Does insurance pay for a security door?

It sometimes covers replacing a door damaged during a burglary, depending on your policy. Upgrading your protection, on the other hand, is usually at your own expense.
