Tenants: getting the landlord’s consent

Fitting a security door or reinforcing the existing door counts as altering the property: the law requires the tenant to have the owner’s written consent. With a social landlord, the request goes through the local office or the caretaker.

We give you a detailed quote and the model’s technical data sheet to attach to your request. Ask for the consent to state what happens to the door when you leave: it stays in place, or the old one has to be put back. Once consent is given, we schedule the fitting with you.

The documents to send

  • Your written request: what you want to have fitted, and why.
  • The detailed quote: model, dimensions, certification.
  • The technical data sheet: it shows the quality and the appearance on the landing side.

In tower blocks: the fire safety question

In a high-rise building, the front door plays a part in fire safety: the building’s regulations may require a fire door. The Picard Diamant EI30 combines A2P BP1-certified reinforcement with 30 minutes’ fire resistance.

Security door in the 19th: frequently asked questions

Your caretaker or your landlord’s local office can tell you straight away whether a request has already been made in the building.

What happens if I fit a security door without consent?

The landlord can require you to restore the property to its original state at your own expense, or keep the door without compensating you. So it is better to ask first: a complete application makes the answer easier.

Does reinforcing the existing door also require consent?

Yes, since it alters the door: steel sheet, angle bars, multipoint lock. As the original door stays in place, it is often the simplest request to put forward.

Which certification level should I choose?

BP1 for an upper-floor front door in a well-supervised building; BP2 or BP3 if the door is exposed, or if you want to go further. The quote compares the options.

Is measuring up free?

Yes: the visit and the quote are free and with no obligation. Just make sure we can get to the landing and, in a tower block, have the lift fob ready if needed.

The 19th, block by block

Social housing, co-owned buildings, houses: the steps before fitting depend on the status of the home.

Quays of the bassin de la Villette

Private residential blocks from the 1980s: in a co-owned building, it is the building’s rules that govern how doors look from the landing. A standard security door, in a colour close to the existing one, is often the simplest solution here.

  • Quai de la Loire
  • Quai de la Seine
  • Rue de Crimée
  • Rue Riquet

Avenue de Flandre and Rosa-Parks

Large housing estates and new residential blocks in the Rosa-Parks district: the landlord’s consent for tenants, the building manager’s for the external appearance in co-owned buildings. We prepare the documents in both cases.

  • Avenue de Flandre
  • Boulevard Macdonald
  • Rue Curial
  • Rue Césaria-Évora

Place des Fêtes and Danube

Social housing towers and small apartment buildings: in the towers, fire safety comes on top of the landlord’s consent.

  • Place des Fêtes
  • Rue Compans
  • Place de Rhin-et-Danube
  • Rue de Crimée

Houses of the Mouzaïa

A house has no shared landing: the front door opens onto the villa lane. A made-to-measure security door, or reinforcement of the existing door, is then a matter for the owner alone.
