Arts-et-Métiers, Enfants-Rouges, Archives, Sainte-Avoie: the arrondissement is divided between these four administrative quarters. Since 2020, it has been grouped with the other central arrondissements in the Paris Centre sector, whose town hall occupies the former town hall of the 3rd, on rue Eugène-Spuller.
The neighbourhood of the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers has kept its streets of craftsmen and wholesalers: rue au Maire, rue des Gravilliers, rue Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth. Many ground floors here are workshops or storage spaces, with their service doors, courtyard doors and metal shutters.
Around the oldest covered market in Paris, on rue de Bretagne, and the Carreau du Temple, the buildings are lived in, often by families, and designer boutiques keep springing up on rue Charlot and rue de Saintonge. For these shops, we also repair metal shutters.
Hôtel de Soubise, the Hôtel Salé (now the Musée Picasso), the Musée Carnavalet: this is the quarter of grand 17th-century residences, now divided into flats, offices and galleries. Front doors here are often old and moulded; reinforcement protects them without changing how they look.
The south-west of the 3rd borders the Centre Pompidou. On rue du Temple, rue Michel-le-Comte and rue des Haudriettes, the old buildings house small flats and offices, often at the back of a courtyard: tell us the building and staircase when you call.

In the 3rd, many front doors are as old as the building itself. Reinforcement strengthens them from the inside: on the staircase side, the door keeps its mouldings, its paint and its ironmongery.
A steel sheet, anti-jemmy angle bars, a threshold bar and an A2P-certified multipoint lock: the door’s strength changes, not its appearance. A door slammed shut as you popped down for bread on rue de Bretagne, a key bent in the lock of a workshop on rue des Gravilliers, a mansion door swollen with damp that refuses to open: we come out day and night, anywhere in the 3rd.
Many buildings are entered through a carriage entrance with a door code, then a courtyard: give us the code and the building over the phone. You know the price incl. VAT before the locksmith sets off, and you receive the invoice on the spot.
After 8 pm, the daytime price goes up by 30%, then by 50% after midnight. Weekends stay at the daytime rate.

Yes: the reinforcement is fitted on the inside, and the door keeps its appearance on the staircase side. In a listed building, check with the building manager (syndic) before the work; the details are on our security door in Paris 3 page.
€119 incl. VAT during the day, and €129 if it is a security door. If the door is locked, allow €135 for a standard door. After 8 pm, we tell you the surcharge before the locksmith sets off.
Not always: an old door moves with damp and the seasons, and the bolt ends up rubbing in the strike plate. Adjusting the strike plate or the door is often enough; we only change the lock if it is worn.
