The centre and the quays, around avenue de Verdun
The town hall, inaugurated in 1965 at 28 avenue de Verdun, and the Mairie stop on the T1 tram mark the centre; close by, the Saint-Joseph church, in brick and millstone grit, dates from 1932. At the end of the avenue, the pont de l’Île-Saint-Denis has since 1903 replaced the suspension bridge painted by Sisley in 1872. Towards quai d’Asnières, some houses remain, on rue Homère-Robert for example: a door slammed shut there is usually opened without damage, just as in an apartment.
