Metal shutter repair in Paris 18

A delivery lorry reversing too far, a sack truck hitting the slats, a gust of wind: in the shopping streets of the 18th, a shutter is soon knocked out of its guide rails. We put it back in place or replace the bent parts, 24/7: unjamming from €280.

Shutter out of its guide rails: what we repair

When a shutter leaves its guide rails, it will no longer go up or down, and every attempt bends the slats a little more. We free the shutter, straighten or replace the damaged slats, repair the guide rails and check the shaft before putting it back into service.

If the impact has bent the guide rail itself, we replace it; if several slats are buckled, we change them for slats of the same profile, so the shutter keeps its appearance. Guards at the bottom of the guide rails limit the damage from any future impact.

Until we arrive

  • Don’t force it: every attempt bends the slats further.
  • Switch off the motor: if the shutter is motorised.
  • Take photos: of the impact and the damage, for the shop’s insurance.

Where we repair shutters in the 18th

Fabrics, food, Montmartre boutiques and local shops: these are the areas where shutters get heavy use.

Marché Saint-Pierre and rue d’Orsel

Fabric and haberdashery shops at the foot of the Butte: wide shop windows, deliveries every day in sloping streets. Shutters here are often struck by sack trucks and rolls of fabric.

  • Rue Charles-Nodier
  • Rue d’Orsel
  • Rue Pierre-Picard
  • Place Saint-Pierre

Barbès and Château-Rouge

The rue Dejean market, food shops and wax-print boutiques: shutters go up early and lorries park as close as they can. A shutter knocked out of its guide rails is a common fault here.

  • Boulevard Barbès
  • Rue Dejean
  • Rue Poulet
  • Rue des Poissonniers

Rue Ordener and rue du Poteau

Local shops and the rue du Poteau market, around the town hall: manual or motorised shutters, which we repair and restore to working order.

  • Rue Ordener
  • Rue du Poteau
  • Rue Duhesme
  • Place Jules-Joffrin

Abbesses and rue Lepic

Boutiques, cafés and workshops catering to visitors to Montmartre: often old shutters, in narrow streets where delivery drivers have very little room to manoeuvre.

  • Rue des Abbesses
  • Rue Lepic
  • Rue Yvonne-Le-Tac
  • Rue des Trois-Frères

Shutter out of its guide rails: your questions

A photo of the bottom of the shutter and the guide rails often tells us which parts to bring.

Can I put the shutter back in its guide rails myself?

Best not to: a shutter under tension, with its springs, can suddenly give way. Forcing it also bends the slats and guide rails. Leave it where it is and call us.

The impact was caused by a vehicle: who pays for the repair?

If the person responsible is identified, their insurance covers the damage: fill in an accident report form or note their number plate, and keep our invoices. Otherwise, your shop’s comprehensive business insurance may pay out, depending on your policy.

Can the bottom of the shutter be strengthened against impacts?

Yes: a sturdier bottom slat and guards at the foot of the guide rails limit the damage. We can quote for them when we carry out the repair.

Do you come out on Saturdays, the busiest day?

Of course, on Saturdays as on any other day: a shop cannot stay shut, or open, because its shutter has failed. We come at the time that disrupts you least.
